Some days in daycare are simply special. Days when children’s eyes light up, questions seem endless, and an ordinary morning turns into a real adventure. That’s exactly what happened during our visit to Basel Zoo.
The excitement began early: packing small backpacks, traveling together, and arriving full of anticipation. Once at the zoo, it quickly became clear that this trip was much more than a change of scenery. The children observed animals up close, compared what they saw, marveled, and let their curiosity lead the way.
- Why do penguins waddle the way they do?
- Why do sheep have so much wool?
- Why do cows chew all day long?
These kinds of questions are the beginning of learning – natural, pressure-free, and involving all the senses. At the same time, shared outings strengthen important social skills: waiting, taking turns, showing consideration, and experiencing things together.
At ValdeShamou, we see education as something that happens everywhere – not only inside the classroom. Learning takes place wherever children feel safe, are allowed to be curious, and are taken seriously. A zoo visit combines knowledge, emotion, and community, creating memories that last.
At the end of the day, we returned with tired legs, happy faces, and many stories still waiting to be told.
